Surprising? Shocking? Or is it incredibly plausible that Al Gore fits the description of what most of us would consider as the "Anti-Christ"
Now, I'm not particularly religious myself, however I can't seem to shake this image of Gore being at best a false prophet, and at worst the pet of Old Scratch himself.
You may think I'm overreacting, or just nuts (both are probably true). But let me explain myself.
Al Gore is the de-facto mouthpiece of the newest religious craze to hit the masses, Eco-Fundamentalism, or as Nigel Lawson calls it, "the quasi religion of green alarmism" In this new faith either you are "green" or you are the cause of the end of life as we know it. Pretty substantial charges to be leveraging based on shady science and celebrity causes of the moment. Just like other religions, this new movements has public goal, and more obscure actual goals. The public goal is to quite simply get everyone to believe the hype about global warming. This isn't a new tactic, they tried the same thing in the 70's with, believe it or not, Global Cooling, illustrated in Newsweek with this http://denisdutton.com/cooling_world.htm article. Though Newsweek has very quickly boarded the bandwagon to stop the warming of the planet in order to save the bears which, if you listened to them in '75 should by now be picking seals out of ice holes in Oklahoma instead though we get something like this http://www.newsweek.com/id/139537 .
Their private and true goals however, are much less idealistic. Global warming is a business, no doubt about it. Al Gore himself has made millions of dollars "trading carbon credits" which is a fancy way of saying that he extorts people and corporations by saying that they have too large a carbon footprint, but, by paying him (via his company) he'll work to offset your "sin" (or, carbon footprint) by helping his movement. Or taking pictures of trees he never planted saying this is what your money is buying you. (Besides a simple good nights sleep for the weak minded who do pay) Mr. Gore himself has a large carbon footprint, however he pays himself (handsomely) to take care of that.
The cap and trade legislation being pushed by Sens. Lieberman, McCain, and others is just another piece in Al's master plan to take over the world as a whole. You see, using this cap and trade scheme, otherwise known as a tax, though this one has many more middle men to pay off on its route, the government will essentially pick which of these new "Carbon Trading Companies" will receive massive profits from Corporations, and in turn, the consumer. The consumer will be mandated by the government to reduce their carbon footprint, they would do this, by buying carbon credits from the trading companies, or in the rare case of a very low impact company ( by whose standards I wonder?) selling these credits back to the trading companies who then dole them out to the highest bidder for the right to continue to do business as normal. Now I'm not a crime expert, but that sounds to me like something the mafia would do, not what the government of the United States of America should do.
The other thing new religion aims to do is get it's people in high ranking offices. Or convert those already in positions of power to do their bidding. They convert people using two things, the first and obviously foremost is the same thing in all walks of life, money. In addition to creating massive amounts of it for Gore and his fanatic followers, it will infuse the K Street lobbyists with huge amounts of cash, cash used to buy already elected politicians, who will then be getting their marching orders from Gore in return for the generosity in campaign donations and fancy perks.
So by doing all this Al Gore is positioning himself to control the government from off stage. While he maintains his public persona of fighting the so called good fight on Global warming, he will have untold influence on American and International policies simply by further corrupting already morally bankrupt politicians. This is very much what most western religions believe the Anti-Christ will do.
So are we ushering in the end of times? Who knows, but I'm going to turn on my stereo, AC, TV, and any other things I can do increase my footprint since no matter what we do we'll be lining somebody's pockets. I may as well do it in comfort.
